"The Forgotten Conflict"
The War of 1812 (1812-1815), sometimes called "the forgotten conflict", was our First War as a country, and our Second War for Independence.
The War was a confrontation with Great Britain that brought the United States to the verge of bankruptcy and disunion. It gave the Unites States the identity that we know today, as well as the U.S. distinct national symbols: "The Star Spangled Banner", Old Ironsides", "Don't Give Up the Ship", and Andrew Jackson and New Orleans, Free Trade, and Sailor's Rights.
